  Environment Planning
  The Master of Technology program in ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING, started in 1987, emphasizes rational and scientific decision-making for planned actions in different human activities compatible with the objectives of sustainable development. The course aims at visualizing the various environmental & developmental issues concerning the human habitat.
   
 
PLANNING LABORATORIES IN ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING
Urban Environmental Management: Case study of environmental land use analysis; preparation of comprehensive policy and programs for improving environmental quality in an urban context.
Environmental Impact Assessment: Case studies involving environmental impact assessment of existing or proposed projects; development of suitable methodology and its application to the case situation.
 
CORE COURSES IN ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING
Environmental Planning: Introduction to environmental planning concepts, spatial environmental planning, global and local environmental issues.
Environmental Science: Eco-system and components of ecosystem structure; principles of ecology; physical science; earth science; man-environment interface towards sustainable development.
Environmental Economics: Neo-classical concepts of externalities; welfare economics; costs of pollution; environmental cost-benefit analysis; economics of environmental policies and programs; risks and disasters.
Environmental Impact Assessment: Procedural and administrative aspects of EIA; methods of EIA matrices and networks; quantitative methods; techniques of assessment of environmental impacts on air water and land; economics and social impacts; risk assessment and management.
Environment Management Systems and Technology: Environment Management systems, cleaner production; commercial and non-commercial fuels and the bio-mass economy; resource depletion; alternative fuels and technologies; energy accounting and auditing; energy policies, norms and standards for clean air and water; measurement of environmental quality.
Urban Management: Basic concepts for understanding the planning and implementation processes at institutions concerned with urban management; the principles and practices of public finance.
